2020 FANSFund Kick-Off
The racing world is starting to come alive around the country, however at many events you will notice one important thing that is missing. What is that one thing, the FANS. While we understand why some of these events have occurred without fans due to local restrictions and health risks, we at the FANSFund know that the fans are probably the most important part of our sport. It is because of this that we are kicking off the 13th annual FANSFund event.
This year because we are little behind we are going to do our best to get as many drivers as possible to the USA Nationals. This is a slight change from our original 2020 plan, however the times have pushed this decision to keep things as they are for this year. With the current date and our planned fundraising dates at Cedar Lake Speedway we are hoping to get 4 to 8 drivers to the USA Nationals in August. This does not mean that we will cap the amount of drivers, because if more funds are raised we will invite more drivers!
As the amount of drivers will be decreased from the past couple years, the amount of returning drivers, All-Stars, will also be decreased. This idea was slightly introduced at last year’s event as we want to stick to the main focus for the FANSFund, which is to attract drivers nationwide to the USA Nationals. This is done with the hopes they will love it so much that they will return year after year. This year we will invite 1 or 2 All-Star drivers, so if you want to see your favorite All-Star driver, someone who has been in the FANSFund in recent years, you will want to vote as much as possible.
The drivers who have already expressed some interest in being part of the 2020 FANSFund have been added to the interest driver’s page, which will be adjusted as more information is received from the teams. This year we may see slightly more than normal changes to this page as teams and drivers are reviewing and updating their schedules almost weekly. My best advise to the FANS is to get as many votes in early for their favorite driver so they know we want them to be at Cedar Lake Speedway. Once this happens we hope the date will go from pencil to ink on their schedules!
Please keep in mind that you are free to vote for any driver with the appropriate late model equipment to complete in the USA Nationals. However, in order for the driver invited we need to have their contact information. If you know of a driver who may be interested, or you are one yourself, please make your votes and reach out to us either via email or FACEBOOK with the appropriate contract information. This is important, as we want the fans to vote for ANY DRIVER they want to see at Cedar Lake Speedway.
If you want to place your votes it can be done online or at the race tracks that we will be in attendance until the voting ends, on July 13th. We will try to keep everyone posted, but the easiest place to find us would be at Cedar Lake Speedway. If we are not working the track someone can normally be found at Booth 32 on the front stretch. As with previous years the votes are $5 each and can be placed towards any driver. If you would like to be included in the luncheon and receive a t-shirt a total of six votes ($30) will give you an automatic invite. When you place six votes it is important to remember that you can place all six votes against six different drivers or put them all towards one must have driver.
The first event the FANSFund crew will be working at Cedar Lake Speedway will be the annual MASTERS event June 11-13. If you want to get more information or get your votes in just stop one of us and we will be happy to help.
This year has been very difficult on many small businesses, including those who have historically sponsored the FANSFund, and we want to give them a big shout out going into this year’s event. It is our hope that these sponsors will be back for 2020 and we will make announcements as more information is received.
